Swimming lessons for toddlers follow on from baby classes, furthering their skills to enable them to swim independently. Some babies who come to swimming lessons will be able to swim independently towards the end of their second year, there may even be a few who can swim earlier! We normally expect a majority of children to swim a few meters at some point by the end of their fourth year, however, this all depends on a variety of factors such as how long they have been having lessons, how often they practice outside of lessons and their own pace of learning.
Our ethos is that neither parent nor child should do anything that they don't want to, time is taken to build confidence to produce happy, competent swimmers, in both child and parent.
Whenever and wherever they decide to take the leap and make those first few independent moves through the water, it's a moment you're sure to never forget!
Skills practiced in toddler and preschool swimming:
Toddlers from 1.5 years will start to become more confident and adventurous in the water, building independence and developing swim skills from our progressive games and lesson plans.
Preschoolers between the ages of 2.5 and 4 years may start to take their first independent swims, building water safety awareness and skills through games and themed lessons.
You can join any class at any time, no need to wait until the start of term.
Babies and children who are not potty trained yet must wear the ‘double nappy system’, otherwise they cannot go into the water.
The double nappy system is a disposable swim nappy with a neoprene swim nappy over the top.
